Carol Elizabeth Buck, 77, of Danville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.


DANVILLE, PA ~ Carol Elizabeth Buck, 77, of Danville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. She was born October 13, 1943, in Bloomsburg, PA, the daughter of the late John F. and Margaret Fogle Kashner.
Carol graduated from Danville High School in 1962.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, R. James Buck. They were married June 22, 1963.
Carol was a member of the former Mausdale United Church of Christ.
She was employed as a clerk in various departments at Geisinger Medical Center for 45 years, retiring in 2012. She thoroughly enjoyed working at the Bloomsburg Fair Gate #3 for 22 years. Carol also volunteered for many years as part of the Airport Crew of Camp Horizon.
She was an avid Bloomsburg Fair attender and was always ready to go whenever the opportunity presented itself. Carol loved going on cruises and traveling, especially to Florida to visit her sister. She loved country music and game shows. One of her favorite pastimes was “people watching” wherever she went. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially going to all sports games of her two grandchildren, whom she adored.
Carol will be remembered for her bubbly, charismatic, loving, and nurturing soul. Her life was centered around home, family, holidays, and she was always ready to share her gracious hospitality with family, neighbors, and guests. The welcome mat was always out, and those who came through her door felt very much at home. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by one son, James “Jim” Buck of Danville and one daughter,
Karen Richendrfer and her husband Louie of Catawissa PA. She was especially fond of her two grandchildren: Brandon Richendrfer and his companion Claudia Getty of Bloomsburg PA and Sean Richendrfer and his companion, Alexa Wall
of Berwick. Also surviving is her sister, Judy Achy and her husband, Karl of Danville PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: John Kashner and Jim Kashner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Carol’s Life on Monday, October 11, 2021, at 12:00 Noon at Straub’s Lutheran Church
639 Frosty Valley Road Danville PA with Pastor Jason Sullivan of Iron Mill Church, Danville officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
