Danville, PA - James William Buckley, 75, of Danville PA passed away peacefully on Friday, August 27



 

 

DANVILLE , PA - James William Buckley, 75, of Danville PA passed away peacefully on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville PA He was born on November 1, 1945 in Bloomsburg PA, the son of the late William James and Louise Galiley Buckley.


He graduated from Danville High School and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Susquehanna University.


Jim served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 – 1966.

He was married to Kathleen Ann Strouse on June 16, 2012, who survives.


Jim was a lifetime member of the Danville American Legion Post 40 and the Continental Fire Company in Danville. His other memberships included the Danville Moose and other local fire companies including the Good Will Hose Company in Sunbury PA where he was a member of the Dive Team. He also served as an EMT for the Danville Ambulance Association.


Jim was employed as a computer programmer for Kennedy Van Saun in Danville PA for several years and as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service, from where he retired.


He loved spending time at his family cabin, hunting and fishing, woodworking and had a keen interest in genealogy.


Jim will be remembered for the love he had for his family and for his dogs, all of whom he adored.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons; James E. Buckley and his wife Denise of Bucksport, Maine; Timothy E. Buckley of Danville PA and Scott N. Buckley of Danville PA. Also surviving are his two grandchildren: Sierra T. Ryan and Trinity C. Buckley; both of New Castle PA. He is also survived by three brothers; William Buckley and his wife Martha of Bloomsburg PA; Thomas Buckley of Connecticut and Kenneth Buckley of Ohio, as well as one sister, Marie Annette of New Mexico. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.


Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.


The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to Danville American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard c/o David Callahan 53 Mooresburg Road Danville PA 17821.
