Doris May Lemon, 93, of Danville, PA passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022.


 


 

DANVILLE, PA ~ Doris May Lemon, 93, of Danville, PA passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville PA. She was born December 10, 1928, in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha May Hogendoebler Gerringer.


Doris graduated from Danville Area High School in 1946.


She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville.


Doris was employed as a medical secretary at Geisinger Medical Center for Robert Dickey, MD, William Jeffries, MD and various departments. She retired in 1966 and later became the majorette advisor for Danville High School.


Doris enjoyed her family, friends and hearing from her “girls” from the majorettes. She also enjoyed going to the beach with her best friend Vi Reppert and her family at Ocean City, Maryland. Doris also enjoyed watching her side kick pitch softball for various teams in the area.


Doris will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, friendship, her many stories and her great smile. Her favorite animal is dogs and that is apparent as soon as you walk in her house with all the many dog figurines.


Doris is survived by her nephews, Arthur Gerringer and his wife Deborah; Ray Gerringer and his wife Melanie, various nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She is also survived by her great friends, Rhonda and Barry Schreiter and family as well as her care giver Sherry Foust.


Doris was preceded in death by her husband Jerome William Lemon on May 28, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Coira and her husband Mike; her brother Donald Gerringer and her nephew Butch Coira.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Doris’ life to be held Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 215 East Market Street, Danville, PA 17821 with the Reverend Trevor J. Hahn officiating. Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Danville.


The family will provide flowers.


Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the church.
