James Edward Mordan, 81, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 22, 2023, at his residence. He was born September 14, 1942, in Riverside PA, the son of the late James Earl and Hazel Snyder Mordan. Jim graduated from Danville High School in 1961, where he excelled in football as a running back and in baseball as a pitcher. As a devoted husband, James shared 61 years with his devoted wife, Connie Evans Mordan. They were married March 17, 1962. Jim was employed as a splicer for Verizon for several years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Danville-Mahoning Lodge #224, Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Bloomsburg Elks, East End Fire Company, Washies Fire Company, Continental Fire Company, Southside Fire Company and Danville American Legion Post 40. He enjoyed riding his golf cart in the woods with his faithful dog, Buddy. Throughout his life, Jim exemplified dedication and a strong work ethic. He believed in the value of family and the importance of putting others before himself. His tireless work was an inspiration to all who knew him. Whether it was working long hours or sacrificing his own needs, he always put others first. He was also known for his unwavering generosity. His selflessness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: James D. Mordan and John W. Mordan; both of Danville PA and Robert R. Mordan and his wife Kim of San Diego CA. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Brenna Perez and her husband Nick of Los Angeles CA and two grandsons: Jake and Nicholas of San Diego CA. Also surviving is one sister, Joan Brady of Danville PA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Earl, Raymond and Jerry and one sister, Dolly Holdren. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA 17821.
