Jeffrey Ray Hostelley, Sr., 77, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022.


 

 


Jeffrey Ray Hostelley, Sr., 77, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danville. He was born August 13, 1944 in Danville, PA; the son of the late Jeffrey and Mary (Mottern) Hostelley.


Jeff graduated from Danville High School in 1963. He was a member of the wrestling team and competed in Gymnastics.


He was employed as a tool and dye machinist at TRW and Textron where he retired upon the plant closing.


Jeff was a member of the Washies Fire Company where he served as president and volunteer fireman. He also was a volunteer Danville ambulance driver.


He enjoyed watching and coaching wrestling. He started a wrestling program at the old Danville YMCA on Ferry Street. Many of the wrestlers that were part of the 1982 and 1984 Danville wrestling state championship teams were coached by him at the YMCA. He coached the Washies senior league baseball team for many years. He also enjoyed fishing on the Susquehanna River at his family’s cabin. He enjoyed watching baseball and football. His favorite team was the best team that year. His bandwagon fandom caused his children to be long suffering NY Mets and Miami Dolphin fans.


Jeff will be remembered as a 2nd ward icon. He was born, raised and lived most of his life in 2nd ward. It was something he was very proud of and would tell anyone who would listen.


He is survived by one daughter; Amy (Hostelley) Schutter and her husband Chris Schutter of Baltimore, MD and two sons; Jeffrey R. Hostelley Jr. of Pasadena, MD and Eric J. Hostelley and his wife Amy Hostelley of Woodbine, MD. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Zachary Schutter, Hayley Schutter, Ian Hostelley, Madelaine Hostelley, Eric Hostelley II, and Zander Hostelley. Jeff is also survived by one sister: Jane VonBlohn and her husband Dean of Danville, PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews


In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his oldest sister, Mary-Catherine Haddon


Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Jeff’s Life to be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 6:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA. A walk-through visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.


The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Washies Volunteer Fire Company in Danville, PA.


Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.
