John Harold Clark, Jr., 71, of Emmaus, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2022.


EMMAUS, PA ~ John Harold Clark, Jr., 71, of Emmaus, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, September 5, 2022, at his residence. He was born May 2, 1951, in Danville, PA the son of the late John Harold Clark and Ada Margaret Clark (VonBlohn).
John graduated from Danville Area High School in 1969 and earned a bachelor’s degree in History from Kutztown University in 1995.
John was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Macungie PA.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Alice Marie Wertz Clark. They were married on August 26, 1972, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville PA.
John followed an interesting career path during his life. He was an accomplished educator to many especially enjoying teaching History to students and his family. His previous employments included Baker Instruments and General Electric as a talented draftsman.
His zest for life was notable in many ways. His interests and hobbies were diverse including carpentry, fly fishing, model trains, to name a few; all of which he mastered. His musical talent was significant also, playing many instruments including the Banjo and piano. John was a kind, generous and selfless gentleman who always enjoyed engaging in conversations whenever given the opportunity. He will be greatly missed by so many of his friends and family, all of whom he adored.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by Leon Wertz and his wife Vivian, Neil Wertz and his wife Susan and Marian Davis and her husband Tim as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law; Paul and Alice Wintersteen Wertz, whom he held great esteem for.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of John’s Life to be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at Visneski Funeral Home, 42 West Mahoning Street, Danville, PA with the Reverend Samantha Drennan of Grace Lutheran Church in Macungie PA officiating. Friends will be received from 10:30-11:45am. Masonic services will be held at 11:45 AM. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church 28 West Main Street Macungie PA 18062.
