DANVILLE, PA ~ Joyce Louise Roth, 93, of Danville PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Mountain View Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Coal Township PA.
She was born October 18, 1929, in Nescopeck PA, the daughter of the late William and Alverda Bond Bohlander.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 72 years, Byron C. Roth, Sr.
who passed away on April 2, 2022. They were married June 25, 1949.
She was employed as a head cook for the Danville Area School District for a number of years, from where she retired.
Joyce was a member of St. Paul’s (Straub’s) Lutheran Church in Danville PA and the California Grange. She also enjoyed being a volunteer at the Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.
Her family will remember her as a devoted homemaker who enjoyed all occasions she shared with her family, all of whom she adored. In addition to being an avid Penn State fan, her passions included cooking, baking and traveling. One of her greatest joys was taking her grandchildren to Knoebels Amusement Park.
She is survived by three sons, Byron, Jr. and his wife Kay of Danville: David Roth and his wife Vicky of Lakewood, PA and Allen Roth and his wife Aileen of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Henry Bohlander and his wife Jeanne of Frederick MD and one sister, Betty Wenner and her husband Donald of Drums PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Marinock.
Services and burial will be private at St. John’s Lutheran UCC Cemetery, St. John’s, PA.
