Karen M. Hartzell, 65, of Bloomsburg PA passed away peacefully on May 26, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center. She was born September 11, 1956, in Bloomsburg PA daughter of the late William and Gladys Swank Hartzell.
She graduated from Bloomsburg Senior High School in 1974.
Karen was a member of Evansville United Methodist Church in Evansville PA where she served as assistant treasurer of the Ladies Aide, and she had great joy in helping to set up church meals.
She enjoyed crocheting, needlework and loved playing cards with her friends.
Karen will be remembered for her caring, compassionate and loving personality. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her friends, all of whom will deeply miss her.
She is survived by two brothers: William W. Hartzell and his wife Aida, Dean A. Hartzell and one sister, Marlene G. Shimko; all of Bloomsburg PA. Also surviving are three nieces, two nephews, four great-nieces and one great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, John A. Shimko in 2012.
A Celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Visneski Funeral Home 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with Pastor John Erwine officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.
