Her Celebration of Life will be held at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received from 9:30 - 10:45 AM.

Mary Louise “Miz” Kemp, 94, of Danville, PA, was called to heaven on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danville. She was born September 18, 1927 in Danville, PA; the daughter of the late John and Ruth Best Buchhalter.


She got her nickname “Miz” from her sister Emma who could not pronounce Mary Louise.


Miz graduated from Danville High School in 1945.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Kemp, on December 4, 2006.


She was employed by Newberry’s Department Store after school then went on to work for McVey’s Furniture Store for many years. She also was employed by TRW and Dollar General, from where she retired.


Miz was a lifetime member of Pine Street Lutheran Church.


Miz loved to travel, especially to the beach. She also enjoyed bowling and swimming. She will be remembered by all her loved ones for never missing a birthday card for each of their birthdays. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family, all of whom she adored.


She is survived by one son; Douglas and his wife Holly of Riverside PA; two grandsons: John Buchhalter of Cummings GA and Mark Buchhalter of Wernersville PA and one granddaughter, Erika Hoffert of Wernersville PA and eight great-grandchildren: Bianca, Jakob, Norah, Wesley, Audrey, Lydia, Ian and Laurel. Also surviving is her sister, Clara Buchhalter Hauck of Danville PA and Beryl Buchhalter Neitz of Mesa Arizona. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and one cousin, Louise Gearhart of Port Orange FL.


A special thank you to her niece Jody Wenzel who lovingly attended to her needs for the last two weeks.


In addition to her parents and her husband, was preceded in death by her stepmother Dolores (Best) Buchhalter and two brothers: John Buchhalter, Jr. and Keith Buchhalter and one sister, Emma Buchhalter Woll.
