Mildred Pulaski, age 100, of Danville, PA passed away surrounded by her family November 27, 2022



 

 

DANVILLE, PA ~ Mildred Pulaski, age 100, of Danville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Meadows Retirement Community in Danville PA. She was born September 6, 1922, in Zion Grove PA, the daughter of the late Victor and Florence Sosnowska Lisefski. Born during the Roaring 20’s, she lived through the Great Depression while growing up on the family farm.


Mildred met the love of her life at a local square dance and was married on September 9, 1940, shortly after the beginning of World War II.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, the late Stanley Pulaski, who passed away April 28, 1996. A war bride, she accompanied Stanley to Camp Blanding FL while he trained for the Army, and worked as a hostess in the Officer’s Dining Hall. During the war effort, she assembled air compressors for pilots with her brothers Victor and Frank at the Budd Company in Philadelphia PA.


Mildred was employed for several years as a seamstress in various locations in the area, and practiced the Roman Catholic faith.


She enjoyed playing cards and was known for often getting double pinochle. She also enjoyed walking with her neighbors and polka dancing. She often volunteered at her church and was a Girl Scout leader while raising her family in Fountain Springs PA. A dedicated homemaker and selfless woman, she will be remembered for her love of family and compassionate caregiving to many.


She is survived by three daughters: Carol Pulaski of Auburn WA, Joan Pulaski of Boston MA and Linda Unger of Danville PA.


Also surviving is her granddaughter, Holly Unger and her fiancé Mark Woernle. She is also survived by one brother, Edward Lisefski of Weston PA and several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Unger in 2003, six brothers: Joe, Victor, Pete, Frank, John and Stanley Lisefski and two sisters: Mary Noyes and Florence Vandenburg.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial of Mildred’s Life to be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM with prayers recited at 10:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with Father Jerome Kleponis officiating. The service may be viewed remotely by Facebook Livestream at www.facebook.com/visneskifh. Immediately following, the burial will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville PA as a Military Spousal Service.


The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
