Patricia E. “Pat” O’Brien of Sunbury PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, January 31st at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA. She was born June 26, 1949 in Sugarloaf PA the daughter of the late Harry Knelly and Arlene O’Neal Hunsinger.
Pat graduated from Nescopeck High School and from The Empire School of Beauty where she enjoyed teaching. She was employed as a hair stylist at Holiday Hair in Selinsgrove for many years, from where she retired.
Pat was a member of Calvary Fellowship Susquehanna ValleyChurch in Shamokin Dam PA.
She enjoyed crocheting and was an avid NASCAR fan. She was especially fond of her dog and constant companion, Ruby.
Pat will be remembered for her spunky personality, infectious laugh, and warm smile. She welcomed many into her home and always had a place in many people’s hearts as their “second Mom”. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She treasured her role as a mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by one son; William “Bill”J. O’Brien of Northumberland PA and one daughter; Patricia “Trish”O’Brien of Danville PA.
She is also survived by three grandsons: Liam, Luke and Sloan, all of whom she adored.
Also surviving are three brothers: Leo Hunsinger, Mark Hunsinger and Robert Knelly and two sisters: Kathy Hunsinger and Dianne Loreman as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Pat’s’ Life to be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Calvary Fellowship of Susquehanna Valley Church 14 W. 8th Street Shamokin Dam with Pastor Mike Gaugler officiating. Friends will be received from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the church at the address mentioned above.
