Robert J. Roney, 84, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022.



DANVILLE, PA ~ Robert J. Roney, 84, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022. He was born on April 20, 1938, in Mount Carmel, PA; the son of the late Stephen and Verna Wisnewski Roney.
He graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School.
Bob served his country with honor in the United States Coast Guard as a BT2 from May 31, 1955-May 29, 1959. At the age of 17, he was so proud to serve as the head of the boiler room.
He was married to his devoted wife, Patricia Girardi Roney for 62 years. They were married on August 20, 1960.
Bob was a co-owner of Ritz-Craft Corporation of Pennsylvania, Mifflinburg, PA.
He was a member of the West End Athletic Club, Mount Carmel, PA, the Danville Moose, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Danville Elks and the Friendship Fire Company, Danville.
Bob was an avid Penn State and Philadelphia Philllies fan and enjoyed taking his family and friends to home games. He also enjoyed working with his hands and always being the fixer of everything with a honey do list. He enjoyed vacationing, especially to Las Vegas and enjoyed spending time at his residence in Sarasota, Florida. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends.
He will always be remembered by his smile, extreme generosity, compassionate and caring nature, and his quick wit and sense of humor. Bob truly had an impact on his community, and his legacy will live on forever.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by two sons; Robert D. Roney and his wife Emily and Todd J. Roney and his wife Rebecca; both of Danville, PA and one daughter; Pamela A. Roney of North Potomac, MD. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Sarah Stachelski, Danah Hack, Tanner Roney, Hannah Varner, Mason Roney, and Ryan Roney and two step-grandchildren; Maya McEvoy and Michael Snyder as well as four great-grandchildren; Austin Turlis, Jaxson Hack, Raelyn Hack, and Mia Hack.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; Stephen Roney and one sister; Evelyn Shedleski.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Friday, January 6, 2023, at 12:00pm noon at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, 599 W Center Street, Elysburg, PA 17824 with Father Joe Scanlin as Celebrant. Friends will be received from 10:30am-11:45am in the Parish Center. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg, PA. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard and the United States Coast Guard.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may made to the church.
