DANVILLE, PA - Thomas A. “Frog” Donnell, 83, formerly of Williamsport and Rockford, IL, passed into the Lord’s hands on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center.
Tom was noted for his love of sports, his gregarious and infectious personality and love for his family and friends. He was especially fond of Penn State football, having been a season ticket holder prior to his move to Illinois, and his adopted Chicago Bears and Cubs. Special places in his heart were reserved for his daughter, son, granddaughter, sister, and brothers. Tom’s warm and friendly demeanor will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1956 and attended the Williamsport Area Community College, where he studied the technicalities of welding and plumbing. After serving honorably in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960 and completing his WACC studies, he embarked on a career as a plumber and pipefitter. After having completed the requisite training as an apprentice, he worked out of Local 810 and later Local 520 of the Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters, and HVAC Service Technicians, most notably on or in several nuclear power plants. He later was employed in retail sales and as a tool and die maker.
The son of the late Harry and Sara Donnell, Tom is survived by his daughter, Monica Orand of Houton, Texas; son Tommy (Sheena); granddaughter, Tahlia; and step-grandson, Landyn of Avon Park, Illinois; stepdaughters, Tiffany Fiala of Sandwich, Illinois, and Brandy Earl of Troy, Tennessee; several step-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. He is survived also by a sister, Barbara Osenkarski of Danville, with whom he lived in recent years, brothers James (Becky) of Williamsport, and Stephen (Cathy) of Columbus, Ohio.
There will be no visitation. Interment will be at the discretion of the family. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a future date.
