W. “Jack “Lewis, 90, of Millville PA, saw Jesus face to face on July 1, 2022 at Nottingham Village.


 


 

MILLVILLE, PA ~ W. “Jack “Lewis, 90, of Millville PA, saw Jesus face to face on July 1, 2022 at Nottingham Village Rehab Center in Northumberland PA. He was born November 26, 1931, in Titusville PA the son of the late Walter and Inez O’Donnell Lewis.


Jack graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1949 and later from Penn State University in 1953 with a bachelor’s degree, with emphasis in insurance.


He served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ruth Lewis on November 8, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Saundra Ludwig Laver Lewis. They were married August 10, 2002.


Jack was self-employed as an insurance agent and broker for Nationwide Insurance Company for 44 years, retiring in 2001.


He was a faithful member of the Mill-Green United Methodist Church in Millville Pa where he served in various ways including being a Sunday School Superintendent, serving on the Administrative Board and was the church delegate for the conference of the United Methodist Church for many years. Jack also served as the Regional Coordinator for Lay Witness Missions in the United Methodist Church. His other memberships included the Gideon’s International Columbia County Camp where he served as President for many years. He served on the Board of Directors of AGAPE in Bloomsburg until recently. He coordinated the volunteer Lay Chaplains at Bloomsburg Hospital and humbly served alongside of them as well. Jack was a Trustee for Williamsport Community College prior to it becoming Penn College. He served on the Board of Directors of the Millville School District and the Millville National Bank/Northern Central Bank His other memberships included the Millville American Legion, and he held the longest membership of the Jerseytown Hunting Club.


Jack was an avid Penn State fan. He also loved vanilla ice cream, traveling to the ocean with his family where he loved being a people watcher. One of his greatest joys was attending the sports and the musical shows of his grandchildren and attending the Bloomsburg Fair. Above all, he loved sharing the love of Jesus with all he met and greatly portrayed the image of Christ here on earth.


He will be remembered for his selfless and giving heart and his outgoing personality showing unconditional love always. One of his family’s greatest remembrances was when each family member was given a 50-dollar bill at Thanksgiving to share with someone in need and then to share at Christmas the joy they had in doing it to whomever.


His joyous heart, uplifting spirit, wink and a smile will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Susan Beagle and her husband David of Millville PA and Nancy Walker and her husband Clint of Bloomsburg PA; one stepson, Mark Ludwig of York PA and two stepdaughters: Michelle Reichner and her husband Richard of Millville PA and Maria Hayes and her husband James of Mifflinville PA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one step-granddaughter.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Jack’s life to be held on Saturday July 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Mill-Green United Methodist Church 75 S State Street in Millville PA. with his grandson, Pastor Benjamin Titman officiating assisted by the Reverend Robert Strozyk Any personal remembrances may be shared by those attending. Burial will follow in the Millville Cemetery with military rites accorded.


The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons Columbia County Camp PO Box 165 Bloomsburg PA 17815 or AGAPE 851 Railroad Street POX 424 Bloomsburg PA 17815 or any other Christian organization of the donor’s choice.
