William Martin “Marty” Keller, 87, of Danville PA went home to be with his Lord on Sept. 27, 2021.


 

 

William Martin “Marty” Keller, 87, of Danville PA went home to be with his Lord on September 27, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.

He was born September 12, 1934, in Philadelphia PA the son of the late James F. and Ethel H. Martin Keller.


He graduated from Dushore High School in 1953 and attended Susquehanna University. He was a graduate of Navy School of Music and Erie County Technical Institute School of Opticianry in 1962.


He served his country as a musician aboard the Flagship with the United States Navy 6th Fleet and the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola FL.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Dale A. McManus Keller. They were married on October 3, 1958, in Zurich, Switzerland.


Marty was self-employed for 34 years as the owner of Keller Optical and Hearing Aid Services in Danville PA. He was a volunteer with the Sight Loss Support Group at PSGH, and all area nursing homes.


He was a musically gifted man and will be dearly missed by his family. His deep faith was a model for all who had the joy of being in his presence.


He was a member of Christ Wesleyan Church in Milton PA, Pennsylvania Alpiners, Contact Lens Society of America and founder of the Susquehanna Chapter of the Pennsylvania Optical Society. He was also a member of American Legion Band Post 40 for 30 years, where he was one of the original founders and past president. He was well known for the Pennsylvania Alpiner German Band, which he organized in 1972 and features an authentic Swiss Alphorn. Mr. Keller was proud to have written the song, "Happy Birthday, America" which he had added to the Library of Congress in our nation's capital.


He is survived by two sons: Karl M. Keller and his wife Dianne of Pittsburgh PA and Mark A. Keller and his wife Catherine of Delaware Ohio and one daughter, Laura L. Kweder and her husband Dan of Erie PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Matthew, Elizabeth, Nolan, Joel, Valerie, Meredith, Paige and one great-grandson, Coleson.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Marty’s life to be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Christ Wesleyan Church Davis Chapel 363 Stamm Road West Milton PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM

Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard.

The burial will be private at the convenience of the family.


The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Wesleyan Church Music Committee 363 Stamm Road Milton PA 17847.
